In "former times" a group of PhD students was exchanging e-mails with "know-hows" which they had learned from someone or invented themselves. The idea of ChemKnowHow as a forum was first formulated by

Prof. Dr. William A. Smit (N.D. Zelinsky Instutute of Organic Chemistry, Moscow, Russia).
